I've only had the one dealing with you, but it was personal and pleasurable, and both myself and Jess were very pleased.
I never met your Dad. However, people always speak very favourably and fondly about him, and I'm sure he has been proud of your work and efforts.
Wishing you all the very best,
I am sorry to hear that you are closing the workshop but I would like to thank you and your lovely late dad for the wonderful jewellery (over the last 20years) that I now wear with much pride I wish you and your family all the very best for the future. You never know I just might see you before the end of June especially if you have any diamond stud earrings!!!
Mixed feelings on this as we have enjoyed the contact we have had with Malcolm but having retired early myself I know I would not go back.
We first met Malcolm by sheer chance or maybe it was fate. We had gone to the Quarter to ask an old friend of my daughter's to make our wedding rings for us but unfortunately he has been taken ill the day before. We wandered around wondering what to do, where to go? After looking at a few places and not feeling a connection we headed up those steep stairs leading to Malcolm's shop/workshop. We felt a warmth as we went in but wondered whether we could get the sort of design we were seeking. After having a talk with Malcolm we went off to look around at designer shops.
We did not really see what we were looking for - almost but not quite. So back to Malcolm we went and explained the sort of thing we wanted. Malcolm picked up a blank ring, went to his workbench and hammered away for a few minutes then showed us the result. Not quite there so back he went - a few more minutes and Bingo he showed us just the surface finish we sought.
We agreed the design and it went from there with the rings being completed in plenty of time.
The rings still delight us with the way they have worn and many people have commented favourably on them. Indeed when at the checkout of a Tesco's East of Glasgow the assistant grabbed my wrist and said how lovely she thought my wedding ring was. Fine praise indeed.
message: Sorry to hear your closing after 40 year. I have been very happy with the 5 rings you made for me.I have now moved from the Isle of Wight and i am in South Wales now, so we will try to come and see you befor June. All the very best of luck in what ever you do in the future.
Richard Hi
We have only just got around to looking at the web site. We are so sorry to hear that your Dad had passed away. Such a lovely man and it was our pleasure to have made his acquaintance even if for such a short time.
We will think of him often for as I said the rings he made for us have given us much satisfaction and we enjoy the admiration we receive when people comment on them.
Best regards
Dear Richard
Jill & I are sorry to hear that you are closing down. However I am sure you have more than enough to do. Our association with your father and latterly you has been very helpful and I still wear the cufflinks Malcolm gave me (the sailing ones) when ever I need to wear a formal shirt etc.
We wish you and your family every continued success and thank you for all that you and Malcolm have done for us ( Jill mainly of course)
Hi Richard,
I'm so sorry to hear that you're closing. I just wanted to say that Malcolm made me a beautiful diamond wedding ring which I absolutely love. The necklace that you made me last year with my children's names and dob hasn't been taken off yet (apart from for cleaning!). Thanks so much.
Well we knew it would have to happen some time, but so sad as well.
Malcolm is what I expected the jewellery quarter to be, but is in reality, as scarce a resource as the prescious metals and stones he uses.
Matthew and I were beginning to despair at ever finding a wedding ring for him (believe me, him agreeing to one in the first place stunned me). Your fathers attention to detail produced a ring that everyone, without exception, admires. It suits Matthew perfectly.
Further, he pulled the hat out of the bag over the heart necklace for our bridesmaid and lighthouse cufflinks for our best man at the last minute. Sammy, our bridesmaid, had as big a smile as me on the day and finished off her outfit perfectly....she had jewellery with her, but it just wasn't quite working.
As for our best man, as he started getting dressed for the occasion, he suddenly realised he had left his cufflinks at home. Beginning to panic at what he would do, Matthew fortunately decided to give the best man's gift there and then instead of waiting for the speeches. Perfect.
Birmingham is truly losing a master craftsman.
How sad!
Thanks for the beautiful earrings and great service earlier this year.
Wishing you all the best in the future.
Kind regards
Hello Richard
Thanks for letting me know that you are closing - such a shame to loose a lovely local business after so many years.
Good luck in the future.
